SportsConnect in its current, unpatched form is one hell of a buggy setup. We have all experienced the disappointment of being in the middle of a close game only to be booted out to the main menu. We have felt the shock of a hard fought win not being recorded. Or worse, a team with the lead being given the loss.
I think I have thought out a plan that will work to solve these problems. It comes down to this.
THE LEAGUE DOES NOT EXIST ON SPORTSCONNECT. THE LEAGUE EXISTS ONLY IN THIS FORUM. SPORTSCONNECT IS ONLY A TOOL TO MOVE THE LEAGUE ALONG. IT DOES NOT DICTATE WHAT THE LEAGUE DOES.
What does all that mean? It means that the "Official Standings" on this web page is the ONLY standings that count. We will resolved dropped/misreported games in a unique way that may result in standings that are different than those online.
How does it work? First, shortened games ARE acceptable. We will treat them as "rainouts". If a game does not give the losing team at least 5 full innings, the game does NOT COUNT. Also true, even after 5 innings, if the home team does not complete the bottom of the inning that the away team took the lead the game does NOT COUNT. Same rules as rainouts in professional ball. I will resolve the online game with the proper outcome if need be to make the online standings as accurate as possible.
The only exception to shortened games are playoff games, those MUST go 9 innings.
Now, what if the game is NOT an official game, or the game gives the win to the wrong party? In that case, the two parties will play a new EXHIBITION game until a proper game is played. This may create an inconsistency with what is posted on SportsConnect. That does not mater.

The invalid online standings may create playoff brackets that arennot accurate. In that case, we will NOT play that bracket online. Instead, we will either create a new league with only the playoff teams, and I will resolve the season to playoffs, OR we will play the entire playoffs in Exhibition mode.
The standings on THIS web page are the only standings that count.
