series #1: Twins (willdog26) vs Cardinals (HulkIsReady5)

Game 1:


Opening day in Minnesota was exactly what the Twin Fans were hoping for...a win in the new park. What better way to start off a new season and break in a new stadium! Both pitchers battled one another until a break away play in the bottom of the 3rd plated the first Minnesota run. A questionable play which could have been marked an error, however, a hit was rewarded MLB 10 the Show Cover Boy Joe Mauer.

Baker kept the Cardinal batters off balance through 6 IP, while striking out 5 to be awarded the Player of the Game. It wasn't until the bottom of the 6th when Jim Thome hit a monster of a shot, 450-feet, over the right field fence that the runs came in for the Twins. Just two batters later JJ Hardy struck for a 2-run shot to plate himself and Jason Kubel, who had just doubled. To top it off Cuddyer came through and hit a base clearing 3-RBI double in the bottom of the 8th to plate the final 3-runs for the Twins.

The lone offensive highlight for the Cardinals was a 2-run HR in the top of the 9th for Colby Rasmus.

These two teams will finish out their first 3-game series this week to officially break in the new Stadium!
