A big win got ugly as a 6 run 3rd blew the door wide open. The Angels then tried to speed up the game by thowing strikes, but the Cardinals, with their 3-9 record, and the victim of several comebacks, didn't recognize it right away. By the the time they did and stopped swinging, the game was out of hand. Several Cardinal players were seen apologizing to the Angels after the game, as did the Cardinals coach and owner their Angel counterpart.

A much closer game with the Cards taking a 4-0 lead in part by a 2 run home run by Pujols. Angels come back in the 6th to make it 4-2, but the Cards bullpen secures the win.

And yet an even closer game as the lead changed hands a few times. Cards go 1-0 on a leadoff homerun by Greene. Angels scrap back in the 3rd to make it 2-1 Angels. Rick Ankiel hits two solo shots from there and, again, the Cards bullpen holds.

A great series and a worthy opponent. My thanks to blitz for working around my Sunday schedule.
