OoOoOoooo...the end of the season is closer than it seems. Some teams are reaching the near pinacle of a playoff berth.
As such, I am introducing Magic Numbers to the Official Standings. For those who don't know (shame on you!), Magic Numbers are the combined number of wins and losses that, when achieved, means mathmatical certainty of a postition in the standing.
In other words, the other guy can't catch up!
So far, I have posted the following Magic Numbers for clinching THIRD PLACE in the respective division
Stengel (54 game season)
Blue Jays - 14
Yankees - 18
Tigers - 18
Berra (57 game season)
Giants - 14
Red Sox - 19
Season's not over yet, folks. Still a super tight battle for the last spot in Berra, and any of the top teams can falter down the stretch.
