Seattle-The pitching coaches in this game MIGHT need to update there resumes because this was a SLUGFEST. The Rays jumped out to a 2-0 with rbi's from C. Pena and P. Burrell,the Mariners made it 2-1 with an ichiro HR deep to right,the Rays increased there lead to 5-1 with a HR shot by C. Pena,the scrappy Mariners would come right back with a C. Figgins rbi single and a 3run shot by R. Garko to make the lead 5-4,the Rays increased the lead to 7-4 before the rays came back with 2more runs (one being a solo shot by future HOF k. Griffey jr to cut the lead to 7-6) that would be as close as the Mariners would get as the Rays put up 4 more runs thanks to hr's from P. burrell and E. Longoria.The Rays outlast the Mariners to get the 11-6 victory in game 1 of a 3 game set.

Another great game. Began like gm 1 with each team trading runs, but the starters settled down and the middle innings seemed to fly by. Almost all the runs in this one came via the long ball as you can see by the box score.

Looking forward to the rubber match Smitty these were 2 fun games.

SEATTLE- A. Sorranstine in replacement for J. Shields(back stiffness) pitches 7 1/3 strong innings giving up 2 runs.The Rays got the scoring going in the 1st with an rbi double from C. Pena.P. burrell hit a solo hr in the 2nd to make it 2-0.The Mariners cut the lead in half with a M. Bradley double making it 2-1.The Rays tacked on another run making it 3-1 and that's how it would stay til the Rays bust the game open in the 7th with a 2run double by C. Crawford and a 2run hr by C. Pena.The Mariners tacked on 2 more runs but the 7th inn seem to be too much to overcome.C. Pena tacked on a solo hr for good measure as the Rays cruise to a 9-3 victory.
