The score remained that way until the 9th when the flood gates opened. J.D. Drew hit an RBI single, Mike Cameron hit a 2 RBI DB, Marco Scutaro hit an RBI sac fly, and Jacoby Ellsbury hit an RBI sac fly to make the final score 8-0.

In the 3rd inning, the Redsox got on the board first with a solo HR by Marco Scutaro and a 2 RBI DB by Victor Martinez. In the bottom of the inning, The Whitesox got on the board when a double steal with runners on first and 3rd caught the Redsox with their pants down and scored the run from third to make it 3-1 after 3. Alexi Ramirez brought the Whitesox to within one run when he singled in a run to make it 3-2 Redsox. Victor Martinez added another run for the Redsox with a run scoring DB to make it 4-2 Redsox lead. Mike Cameron added a run in the 6th when he doubled in a run followed by an RBI single by Dustin Pedroia. Carlos Quentin added a run in the bottom of the inning with an RBI DB to make it 6-3 Redsox after 6. The Redsox scored another run in the 9th off of a J.D. Drew single. The Whitesox would tack on another run in the bottom of the 9th when Alex Rios doubled in a run as Dice K tried to comlete the game. The Redsox called on Jonathan Papelbon to put out the fire and the game would end at 7-4 Redsox.
