Grady Sizemore started the scoring in this game with solo HR in the first inning. David Ortiz added to that lead in the 2nd inning with an RBI single to make the score 2-0. In the 3rd, Mike Napoli, who has been a dissapointment for the Redsox up until this point, hit a 2 run HR to make the score 4-0 Redsox. The Brewers got on the board in the 5 inning when Nate McLouth hit an RBI 3B and then later scored himself on a fielder's choice ground ball to make the score 4-2. In the 6th and 7th inning, the Redsox scored runs on passed balls and Grady Sizemore hit an RBI 2B to make the score 7-2. In the 8th inning, Lance Berkman hit a 2 run shot but it wouldn't be enough as Rafael Betancourt shut the door on the Brewers to make the final score 7-4.

Both teams aces were going in game 3 and they both proved why they are the aces. The difference in this game was a costly error by Chase Utley in the bottom of the 8th with a man on 3rd to give the Redsox the go ahead run. Josh Beckett came back out in the 9th and finished the job to give the Redsox the 1-0 win. Tough loss for John Smoltz who actually gave up less hits than Beckett but got tagged with the loss. Great game.
