Brewers took the lead 1-0 in the second on a solo HR by Prince Fielder. The Reds would go up 2-1 in the top of the 3rd but the Brewers answered back with back to back jacks by Cameron and Mat Gamel. That lead would hold until the top of the 5th. With a runner on 2nd and 2 outs, Braden Looper got Brandon Phillips to hit a chopper to first base. Fielder flipped to Looper covering but Phillips was called SAFE.
(Upon replay review, it appeared that Phillips was, in fact, OUT. Right beamer? LOL)
The Brewers pulled Looper for LOOGY Mitch Stetter who went up 0-2 on Jay Bruce before hanging a slider that was crushed over the wall in right-center field. 5-3 Reds. They'd add a solo shot later in the game to go up 6-3.
Down 6-4 going into the bottom of the 9th the Brewers had 9 hitter Craig Counsell leading off against their former closer, Francisco Cordero. Counsell singled and Corey Hart followed with a double down the RF line and took 3rd on the throw home that was late to get Counsell. JJ Hardy got down 0-2 but Cordero sailed a fastball over the catcher's head and Hart scored to tie it up. Hardy K'd. Ryan Braun got a basehit and Prince Fielder followed it up with a monster 2-run shot for the win.
Very fun game to play. I'm sure beamer enjoyed it as well right up until that 9th inning.
