ANNOUNCEMENT: Stuck League and "Dropping" Crimson

We have the potential for a "stuck" league again. To resolve it, I have sent the following email to crimson:


"Hi there Crimson, buddy. I hope you're well.

We have a bit of a problem. You tried to play a game the other day against Leo and the Red Sox that you couldn't get off the ground and it kept booting you off. The reason it was doing that was because you had a glitchy lineup. Whenever Sportsconnect does a Roster Update, sometimes a glitch causes your lineup to scramble, and pitchers get put into the outfield, and some postitions are left blank (empty) all together. When you try to play a game under these conditions, it causes the game to freeze up since a regular lineup isn't present.

The problem that creates for me is that it also forces Sportsconnect to think that the game is still being played right now. If you look at the online schedule, you will see that the game has a status as "Playing". That means, if I the game is "Playing", and the clock on the series runs out, I am unable to resolve it. If I can't resolve the game, and the game isn't actually played, then the clock never starts up again with the next series. If that happens, the entire league is "stuck".

This has happened three times before in our season. Two times, the player with the mixed up lineup was able to straighten the lineup out and the clock got moving again. The third time was with ikky who never returned to us, and I solved the problem by (at his request) dropping him from the league. If he wasn't on the schedule, the clock moved along.

So I have this problem now with you. The clock on your series with the Red Sox ends today at 8pm. If I know you're going to come back today and sign in and work on your lineup and match up with Leo and the Red Sox and try to restart the clock, I'll let that happen. If not, I'll "remove" or"drop" you from the league to get the clock going again.

I want to make it clear, though, that If I do "drop" you from the league, it does NOT mean you aren't still a member of the league and a player in this season. THIS IS NOT A BOOT. You have one series left with Hulk and the Yankees, and you would still be invited and encouraged to play that series. You would still be able to play this series in exhibition mode. What a "drop" does mean, however, is that 1) you wouldn't be able to access our lobby anymore, and 2) you wouldn't get a Sony trophy for completing the season (but you need to play at least 60% of your games to get that trophy anyway, which you didn't do).

So let me know. If I don't get as strong objection by 8pm today, I will be "dropping" you from the league, but that is DIFFERENT than BOOTING you. You would still officially be part of the league and have a right to play your games. Let me know.

So, as a reminder, even if I "DROP" crimson today, it does NOT mean he is "BOOTED". He is still part of the league, and his record within the league is still official.

As a special note to HULK who has the only remaining series with him after today. HULK, if you can find and play crimson, you should do so in exhibition mode.

Be aware that there is a similar problem currently exists in a game between me and head as well. The problem, though, is in Series 19 rather than Series 18, so head has more time to work on his lineup and straighten things out. I also trust that, if head can't fix things immediately, he will be around and available after next Monday's update, at which time we can try again. If worse come to worse, and we can't solve the problem, I can "drop" head as well to close out the league. The crime in doing that is that head would be denied a Sony trophy. I'm a long way from "dropping" head, however.

Oh, one more note:

CHECK!!!YOUR!!!LINEUPS!!!!

And if you can't straighten your lineup for whatever reason, DON'T play the game as a league game. Play it in exhibition mode.

And, as discussed, I have "dropped" but NOT "booted" crimson.

His win/loss record is still official. Hulk should still make every effort to play the series he has with him to close crimson's season.

And, yes, the clock is moving again.

And, yes, you may have noticed we have a stuck clock again. Head has been working on his lineup, and we may have to wait to see what happens with Monday's update.

Beyond that, head may be missing out on a nifty trophy.

Head, how is your lineup looking? Have you had any success fiddling around with it. Like I said, when we tried to load the game, your pitcher was in the 7 slot. Have you been able to move him out of there?

If not, then we will wait again until Monday's update to see if there are any more changes. After that, I need the clock back so I can move and eventually close the league when the playoffs are over. In order to do that, I need to "drop" you. Let me know.

No luck so far. I'll keep trying. Being booted won't hurt my feelings, though.

I know Milk got a trophy. Did anyone else get one? I'm still not sure if ikky's and bizzy's and crimson's games count towards that 60%. If so, then maybe a lot of us won't get one.

So be it. Unfortunately, I'm running out of time. Each series, including playoff rounds, will take me 3 days to resolve. I want this league to close when the last game is played.

I might get back to the place tomorrow afternoon/evening some time. Either way, what is the difference if you drop me. Doesn't have any affect on me or the league, right?

No effect on the league in "dropping" you, but the effect is on you. No trophy and no lobby.

Do I wait for tomorrow? I wouldn't be home until after 7pm.
