Carlos Guillen got things started for the Tigers in the top of the 2nd with a solo HR to give the Tigers the early 1-0 lead. In the top of the 3rd a run would score on a passed ball and Cabrera would single in two more runs to make what would be the final score of 4-0 Tigers.

The Tigers scored two runs in the first inning off of an RBI single by Miguel Cabrera and a fielder's choice ground ball by Brandon Inge to bring in the second run. The Dodgers got those runs right back in the bottom of the inning with a 2 run HR by Rafael Furcal to notch things up at 2-2. In the bottom of the 3rd inning the Dodgers took a one run lead off of an RBI single by Manny Ramirez to making the score 3-2. In the top of the 5th the Tigers tied the game with an RBI fielder's choice ground ball by Magglio Ordonez making the score 3-3. In the top of the 6th Marcus Thames added two runs with a DB down the right field line and Placido Polanco singled in another run to make the score 6-3. In the top of the 7th the Tigers stretched the lead to 8-3 with a solo HR by Cabrera and a sac fly RBI by Gerald Laird. In the 8th the Tigers tacked on three more runs with an RBI single by Magglio Ordonez and a two run HR by Carlos Guillen. The offense would continue in the 9th for the Tigers when Granderson singled in another RBI to make the final score 12-3.
