Twins starter Liriano struggled in the first giving up 4 runs to a powerful Mets lineup. However, the Twins chipped away to bring the game within 3 at 5-2 after 3 innings. From then on the Twins left runners on 3rd in the 5th and 7th innings, kudos to John Maine, who shut down any attempt the Twins had to make a run. The Twins LRP Jon Raush picked up the slack for Liriano and kept the Mets batters off balance through the middle innings. With Bobby Parnell on the mound in the bottom of the 8th the Twins started a rally ending with 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th to give the lead for the first time of the game. The 9th inning was turned over Joe Nathan who went 1-2-3 with the Mets to collect his 10th save of the season.
