| Game 1
Cardinals - 2 - 3- 0 Cubs - 0 - 7 - 1
SP: Cards - T. Wellenmeyer (W) Cubs - T. Lilly (L) Save - J. Motte
POG - T. Wellenmeyer
After a bit of a rain out of a previous attempt to start this game, the festivities were under way. A pitcher's duel for the entirety of the contest, the Cards started the scoring with a home run by C. Duncan to lead 1-0, but that would be the only run and only HIT for the Cards for the longest time. Cubs had good chances, but failed to capitalize. In the 9th with one out, Schumaker fails to bunt for a hit, so instead hits it to left field. He then steals second with Pujols at the plate. He then goes to third on a wild pitch. And then comes home on yet another wild pitch. J. Motte holds the game down for the save.
Great game Milk. See you for two more. | |
