The Rays started the scoring with a single by Gabe Gross to bring in two RBI's in the 7th. Laird would put the Tigers on the board with a sac fly in the eight, but the Rays would add another run in the bottom of the inning with a HR by Carl Crawford to make the score 3-1. Down to their last out, the Tigers would tie the game with a 2 RBI double by Marcus Thames to make the score 3-3. In extra innings the Tigers would take a 5-3 lead when Santiago hit an RBI single and Granderson brought in another run on a fielder's choice ground ball to 2nd to make the final score 5-3 Tigers.

Miguel Cabrera singled in Placid Polanco in the first inning and B.J. Upton homered in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 1-1. In the 3rd, Carl Crawford drove in the Rays second run of the game on a fielder's choice ground ball to make the score 2-1. The score remained the same until the top of the 9th with a runner on 1st, Dusty Ryan hit what seemed to be a routine fly ball that was misplayed by Crawford in left field to allow the tying run to score. Shortly after, Granderson drove in the second run of the inning on a single to take the lead for good at 3-2.

Things remained pretty quiet until the 5th inning when Curtis Granderson uncorked a HR to right field with a man on 1st to take a 2 run lead. The Rays answered right back with an RBI single by Navarro to make the score 2-1. The pitching duel resumed until the top of the 9th when Marcus Thames hit a bomb to left center field to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead. The Rays would add another run in the bottom of the inning off of a Pat Burrell HR to center field but it would not be enough as the Tigers take this one 3-2.
