The Redsox exploded for 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd after loading the bases in the bottom of the 1st and getting nothing to show for it. In the 2nd, an RBI single by Tulowitzki and a sac ground ball for Ortiz the score was 2-0. Manny Ramirez followed that with a 3 RBI HR to make it 5-0 at the end of the inning. J. J. Hardy's RBI single in the 5th made the score 5-1. Haffner added one more for the Redsox in the bottom of the inning making it 6-1. Cabrera hit a 2 run HR in the 8th to make it 6-3. Hardy's RBI DB in the 9th made the final score 6-4.

Manny Ramirez started the scoring in this one with a 2 run HR in the bottom of the 1st inning. Dan Uggla hit an RBI DB in the top of the 2nd to make the score 2-1. Bobby Abreau, who has started this season on fire with 3 hits in each of the first two games, hit a two run HR in the bottom of the 6th inning making the score 4-1 Redsox. Uggla made it a 4-3 game in the 8th with a two run HR and Cabrera tied the game at 4 with a HR in the same inning. Chipper Jones hit an RBI single and Nick Markakis hit a pinch hit RBI single in the bottom of the 8th to make it 6-4 Redsox. The Pirates would get within one in the top of the 9th with a Carlos Quentin HR but it wouldn't be enough as the Redsox take game 2 6-5.
