An RBI DB by David Ortiz and RBI single by Manny Ramirez gave the Redsox an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. RBI DB's by Ivan Rodriguez and Adrian Gonzalez tied things up at 2-2 in the 2nd inning. Ramirez hit a solo HR in the 3rd to give the Redsox back the lead but that wouldn't last long as Ivan Rodriguez answered with a solo shot of his own in the 4th to tie things back up 3-3. The game would remain tied until the 17 inning until Sizemore hit his 3rd homerun of the series to give the Redsox a 4-3. That would be enough for Matt Thornton as he records the 3 final outs to close this one out.
